Oct. 11, 2011

NORTH DARTMOUTH, Mass. – Women’s soccer player Krista Ledin (Bridgewater, MA) and men’s soccer player Brian Sanz (Belo Horizonte, Brazil) have been named the Little East Conference women’s and men’s offensive players of the week, as announced by the conference office.

For Ledin, this week’s honor is the third straight for the freshman forward, and first time this year she has been named Offensive Player of the Week.  The last two weeks, the Bridgewater native has garnered LEC Rookie of the Week of the honors.

Helping, Ledin nab this week’s honor was her two assists and three goals in the Beacons 3-0 week.  In the first two matches, Ledin notched an assist in each match.  On Saturday, she recorded her third straight hat-trick against a conference opponent, this time in UMass Dartmouth.  The freshman forward continues to lead the Beacons offense with 13 goals and 29 points, which also lead the conference.

For Sanz, his Offensive Player of the Week honors comes after netting a pair of goals, including the game-winner in the 4-0 win over Newbury College last week.  He also picked-up an assist in the 2-1 loss at UMass Dartmouth on Saturday.  On the year, Sanz ranks second on the team with three goals, and fourth with seven points.
