INDIANAPOLIS, Ind.--#10/15 UMass Boston men's soccer will have a much shorter trip for their Sweet Sixteen matchup, as the Beacons will take on host Tufts University in Medford, Massachusetts on Saturday at 11 a.m.
The Jumbos will play host to a pod of four teams this weekend at Bello Field. In Saturday's other semifinal, #3/4 Trinity University (Texas) will take on #5/5 Kenyon University at 1:30 p.m.
UMass Boston progressed to the Sweet 16 this weekend, after defeating Kean University 3-0 and then advancing past #13/15 Haverford College by a 4-2 score in penalty kicks.
Tufts, the 2014 NCAA Division III National Champion, also was forced to win two games away from home, to earn a trip to the second weekend. The Jumbos defeated in-region opponent Springfield 2-0 on Saturday, before defeating host #8/9 Rowan University 1-0 on Sunday afternoon.
Tufts earned an at-large bid to the NCAA Tournament after losing in the New England Small College Athletic Conference Quarterfinals.
Saturday's contest will mark the third all-time meeting between the two programs, with Tufts leading 2-0. Tufts defeated the Beacons 5-1 in 1999 and 8-0 in 2014.
