Williamson Earns Little East Conference Rookie of the Week Honors

PAWTUCKET, R.I.—For the third time this fall, UMass Boston freshman forward Ocane Williamson (Spanish Town, Jamaica) earned a Little East Conference weekly honor, the league office announced Monday afternoon.

Williamson led the Beacons to their fourth-straight conference win of the season Saturday, by netting all three goals in the Beacons 3-2 win over UMass Dartmouth. He has previously been named the Little East Conference Offensive Player and Rookie of the Week on one occasion each.

The freshman posted his first collegiate hat trick by scoring three goals in a 46-minute span against the Corsairs. His third and final goal at 81:43 broke a 2-2 draw and helped the Beacons stay atop the Little East Conference.

Through 11 games, Williamson sits tied for first in the Little East Conference in goals (13) and tied for second in points (27). He also ranks tied for second in the league with his three game-winning tallies. In those 11 games, he has scored at least one goal in nine of his 11 appearances.

#6/9 UMass Boston will take to the road for three-straight road games, with the Beacons opening their road trip at Framingham State University on Wednesday at 4 p.m.
