NORTH DARTMOUTH, Mass. – Sophomore defender Derek Froio (Cohasset, Mass.) and sophomore goalie Craig Frehill (Norwell, Mass.) earned Little East Conference weekly honors, as Froio was named the Defensive Player of the Week, while Frehill was named Goalie of the Week.
Last week, Froio led the Beacons backline as he finished with a team-best 17 groundballs. He also caused one turnover in the two Little East Conference games played. In the win over the University of Southern Maine, Froio collected five groundballs, and caused a key turnover that led the Beacons picking-up the huge victory. In their final non-conference game of the season at Regis College, Froio posted nine groundballs and went 2-for-2 at the face-off "X".
For Frehill his week consisted of a combined 31 saves to lead UMB to a 2-1 mark, and a berth in the LEC tournament. In Saturday's loss to UMass Dartmouth, he registered his fourth game of the year with 15 or more saves, while against the Huskies he finished with 10 stops. On the week the sophomore netminder finished with a 56.4 save percentage. The weekly honor marked the second of the year for the Norwell native.
