Lacrosse Falls to SUNY Geneseo in Florida, 15-7

ORLANDO, Fla. – Led by Sam Thompson's five goals SUNY Geneseo defeated men's lacrosse by the final of 15-7 Thursday afternoon at the ESPN Wide World of Sports Athletic Complex on the final day of the Beacons Florida spring trip.

Geneseo used a 7-2 advantage through the first 30 minutes of play, before tacking on eight more goals through the third and fourth quarters to hand the Beacons their second straight loss.  With Thursday's loss UMass Boston falls to 3-4 on the year, while the Blue Knights improve to 2-2.

Senior Ryan McGoff (Charlestown, Mass.) led the Beacons attack with three goals, while Donny Delpha (Walpole, Mass.) finished with two goals.  Craig Frehill (Norwell, Mass.) collected six groundballs in the cage and also made 12 stops in the non-conference match-up.

SUNY Geneseo led the contest in groundballs 46-24, while both teams finished with 18 successful clears.  The Knights also held a 18-6 advantage on the face-off "X".  The Beacons special teams finished 3-for-5 on man-up goals, while for the Knights they went 2-for-4 on extra man opportunities.

The Beacons return to action on Saturday when they travel to Emerson College for a 3 p.m. non-conference game.
