FREDERICK, Md.—Despite a five-point night from Donny Delpha (Walpole, Mass.), UMass Boston lacrosse fell 10-7 to Hood College (3-6) Thursday evening at Thomas Athletic Field.
Delpha finished with two goals and three assists on the night, to record a new season-high for assists and points on the season.
Thomas Pettiti (Quincy, Mass.) added his second career hat trick, while Ryan McGoff (Charlestown, Mass.) accounted for the final two tallies for the Beacons.
In net, senior Henry Bristol (South Hadley, Mass.) made 11 saves on 21 shots and picked up a team-high 10 of the Beacons 44 groundballs.
Randolph Clark led seven Blazers scorers with a hat trick of his own for Hood, who led the contest from start to finish.
The Blazers jumped out to a 4-0 lead 25 minutes into the contest, only to have the Beacons respond back with three of their own, to make it a 4-3 game less than three minutes into the second half.
The two teams traded goals over the course of the next 15 minutes, with both teams finding the back of the net three times.
Hood finally put the game away in the fourth quarter, as they outscored UMB 3-1 over the final 11:07, to pull out an 10-7 win.
The Blazers outshot the Beacons 39-29 and held a 49-44 edge in groundballs. Both teams recorded three extra-man goals, with UMB finishing 3-for-5, while the Blazers ended the game 3-for-7.
UMass Boston will finish their Mid-Atlantic weekend trip with Saturday when they play at Catholic University at 2 p.m.
