Mt. Ida Downs Men’s Lacrosse, 12-5

NEWTON, Mass. – Led by Zach Jacobson's four goals Mt. Ida College (10-4) defeated men's lacrosse (2-9) by the final score of 12-5 Monday afternoon at the Mt. Ida College Athletic Stadium.

Jacobson would score one goal in each of the first two quarters.  He would then net a pair in the final quarter to help Mt. Ida to the non-conference victory.  Along with the offensive production, Mt. Ida's defense limited the Beacons attack to just two goals in the first 30 minutes of play, while they were able to next six of their own.

After the halftime break UMass Boston would find the back of the net only three more times, while Mt. Ida netted six of their own.

Netting a hat trick for the Beacons was Leo Ajemian (Walpole, Mass.)  The sophomore got UMass on the scoreboard at the 6:37 mark in the second quarter.  He then recorded back-to-back goals in the final quarter to close out the afternoon.  Cam Hanlon (Hanson, Mass.) and Donny Delpha (Walpole, Mass.) each found the back of the cage once as well.

Between the pipes senior Anthony Fitti (Havertown, Pa.) tallied 15 saves in Monday's match-up, while his Mt. Ida counterpart Jimmy McAllister also stopped 15 shots from the Beacons attack.  Fitti also led the Beacons in ground balls alongside freshman Nate Staples (Salem, Mass.) as the duo scooped six ground balls each.

On the afternoon, Mt. Ida held a slim seven shot advantage over the Beacons (39-32).  Mt. Ida also led the contest in ground balls having picked-up 53, while UMass collected 41.  Both squads netted one man-up score in the contest.

Men's Lacrosse returns to action on Wednesday when they host Keene State College at 4 p.m. in a Little East Conference match.
