Sean Walsh enters
his thir year as assistant men's ice hockey coach at UMass
Boston.
Walsh returns to the New England area after spending two years as
an assistant at Lawrence University in Appleton, WI. In his first
season with the program, Walsh helped lead the Vikings to their
best record in school history (16-11-1). Walsh's duties included
recruiting coordinator, day-to-day operationswhile alsooverseeing
the goaltending unit which led the NCCA among D-III institutions in
shutouts in 2008-09.
Before coaching at Lawrence University, the Tewksbury, MA native
spent one season at Adrian College with their ACHA Division I
program. He began his coaching career working with Brian Daccord
and for the past eight years has worked with them at Stop It
Goaltending over the summers.
A high school hockey standout at Tewksbury Memorial High School,
Walsh earned four letters and played on the 2001 league
championship team. He also served as a team captain and was named
to the league all-star team. Walsh also played one season for the
Danville Pounders of the North Eastern Hockey League.
A 2006 graduate of Southern New Hampshire University, Walsh has a
bachelor's degree in communications.
Walsh is heavily involved with USA Hockey, working muliple National
Festivals as an evaluator throughout the country.
Walsh currently resides in North Reading, MA with his wife
Katie.
