MARSHFIELD, Mass.—Sophomores Nolan Redler (Winchester, Mass.) and Bailey MacBurnie (Beverly, Mass.) were named the New England Hockey Conference Player and Goalie of the Week, the league office announced Monday afternoon.
The pair helped UMass Boston earn a pair of NEHC wins over the weekend, to lock up the number four seed in the upcoming NEHC Tournament. #4 UMass Boston will host #5 New England College on Saturday February 17 at 7 p.m.
Redler scored the game-winning goal in both games and paced the Beacons with four goals on the weekend. The sophomore forward recorded two goals and finished +3 on Friday night in a 4-2 win over New England College. He added on two goals and a team-best three points in Saturday's 7-2 win over the University of Southern Maine.
He ranks tied for first in Division III with teammate Colin Larkin (Waterford, Mich.) for most goals (22). Redler also sits in the top 10 in the country in game-winning goals (four) and power-play goals (eight).
MacBurnie picked up his third NEHC Goalie of the Week award, after backstopping the Beacons to a pair of wins. He went 2-0-0 on the weekend with a .939 save percentage and a 2.00 goals against average.
On Friday night, MacBurnie stopped a career-high 40 shots, to lead the Beacons past New England College 4-2. He added on 22 saves on 24 shots against the University of Southern Maine, to become only the third goalie in program history to win 15 or more games in a single-season.
Freshman Zack Bross (St. Louis, Mo.) was named to the NEHC Honor Roll, after recording two goals and two assists.
