NORTHFIELD, Vt. – After a scoreless first period, the 5th/6th ranked Cadets of Norwich University scored a combined five unanswered goals as they handed men's ice hockey a 5-0 New England Hockey Conference loss Friday evening at Kreitzberg Arena.

HOW IT HAPPENED
The Cadets, who had their backs up against the wall for most of the first period, came out firing in the second, as they registered their first goal just 1:25 into the new frame. They would then tack on their second goal of the period at the 10:01 mark, and would cap-off the period with their third tally just 3:03 later.
Riding the momentum from their breakout second period, the Cadets finished-off the Beacons in the third scoring their final two goals in the first 11:40.
Two of the Cadets five goals were scored on the power-play as the defending national champions finished 2-for-3 on the man-up opportunities.
Senior transfer Anthony D'Urso (Rome, N.Y.) was handed his first loss of the season after allowing all five goals on 14 shots. Jordan Bustard (Flanders, N.J.) closed out the final 17 minutes for the Beacons and made seven saves.

- UMass Boston led the contest in total shots 27-23 and total face-offs won with 32 out of 58
- The Beacons finished 0-for-4 on the power-play
