Men's Hockey Moves Up In National Polls For Fifth Straight Week

BOSTON, Mass.—UMass Boston men's hockey continued their steady climb up the national polls Monday, moving up one spot to number nine in the Top 15 Poll and number 11 in the Nationall Poll.

Both rankings constitute new program records for a Beacons squad that stretched their unbeaten streak to eight straight, after a pair of ECAC East conference road wins over the weekend.

UMass Boston knocked off Skidmore College 6-4 Friday night behind goals from five different scorers, before holding off Castleton State College 2-1 Saturday afternoon.

Freshman goaltender Zach Andrews (Coral Springs, Fla.) broke Tom Corliss' ('87) single-season wins record Saturday with his 14th victory of the season. The freshman netminder made 54 saves over the two contests to improve to 14-3-2 on the season.

Fellow freshman Peter MacIntyre (Norfolk, Mass.) provided the majority of the scoring over the weekend, lighting the lamp four times, including recording both game-winning goals.

The Beacons will look to extend their unbeaten streak to a season-high nine games Friday night, when they travel to Gorham, Maine to take on the University of Southern Maine.

With three more positive results, UMass Boston will tie the program-record for longest unbeaten streak (11 games) set during the 1981-82 season.
