CENTERVILLE, N.Y.—Behind a dominant performance in the 48th Annual Codfish Bowl Tournament, UMass Boston goalie Zach Andrews (Coral Springs, Fla.) was named ECAC East Rookie of the Week, Monday afternoon.
Andrews turned in the best weekend of his collegiate career, leading the Beacons to their first Codfish Bowl Tournament Championship since 2007.
The freshman from Coral Springs, Florida recorded 52 saves for a .912 save percentage, a 2.50 goals against average and a 2-0 record in his first go around with the Beacons annual tournament. He recorded a career-high 33 stops in UMB's 6-3 win over Johnson & Wales in the championship game to give the Beacons their 4th Codfish Bowl title in 31 tries.
In his past six starts, Andrews has gone 6-0-0 with a .900 save percentage and a 2.16 goals against average and has held opponents to three of fewer goals in each game.
