CENTERVILLE, Mass. – For the first time in his collegiate career senior captain Jim Ennis (Roslindale, Mass.) has been named the ECAC East Player of the Week for his standout play last week for the Beacons.
Ennis, who is having his best season ever at UMass Boston, recorded a combined three goals and two assists for a team-best five points to help the Beacons to a 2-0 weekend. In Friday's 4-3 win over the University of New England, Ennis tallied his first assist of the weekend to give UMass Boston a 2-0 lead at the end of the first period.
He then followed-up that up with one of the most impressive senior day performances in recent memory as he notched his first career hat trick in the 5-2 victory over the University of Southern Maine. He also skated away with his final assist of the weekend as well. His first two goals came in the first period to give UMass Boston a 2-0 lead going into the first intermission. He then netted his third goal of the contest six minutes into the third period. His assist came on the Beacons final goal of the night which secured the conference win.
Men's Hockey, who received four votes on the most recent D3Hockey.com National Poll returns to action on Friday when they travel to Norwich University for a 7 p.m. ECAC East contest. They will then close out their regular season on Saturday at St. Michael's College.
