Bendel Named ECAC East Goalie of the Week for the Second Time

CENTERVILLE, Mass. – For the second straight week, senior goalie Kevin Bendel (Denville, N.J.) has been named the ECAC East Goalie of the Week as announced by the conference office.

Just one week after leading the Beacons to their first win over a top-5 ranked team in Norwich University, the senior netminder gave UMass Boston their first win over St. Anselm College since the 1999-00 campaign.  Against the Hawks, Bendel tallied 41 stops in the 3-2 victory, and also notched an assist in the win as well.

His helper came in the second period, and gave the Beacons at the time a 2-1 lead over their Division II rivals.  On the year, Bendel now ranks third in the ECAC East in goals against average with a 2.83 mark.  His save percentage of .910 also ranks him in the top-3 in the conference, while his conference record of 3-3-0 (.500) currently has him tied for fifth amongst all conference goalies.
