2013-14 Men's Basketball Season Preview Capsule

FIVE THINGS TO KNOW

1. Head coach Charlie Titus and the Beacons are coming off one of their best seasons in recent memory, after finishing 12-13 and 8-4 in Little East play. UMass Boston returned to the Little East Conference Tournament for the first time in three seasons and finished the year with a sparkling 8-4 mark in front of their home fans.

2.Titus (32nd season) is just three wins short of reaching the 300-win mark for his career. No other coach in UMass Boston history has ever reached the 200-win mark with one program, with UMass Boston Volleyball coach Terry Condon (197 wins) the closest.

3. UMass Boston is set to host the 29th Edition of the Harbor Invitational the Friday and Saturday after Thanksgiving. The Beacons cruised to a pair of wins last year to earn their first Harbor Invitational Championship since 2005. This year's field includes Emerson College, Wesleyan University and the College of St. Joseph (Vermont).

4. The Beacons will play one of the toughest schedules in the Little East Conference, including contests against New England powers Tufts University, MIT and nationally-ranked Rhode Island College, along with a potential showdown against #1 Amherst College in the Amherst College Tournament this weekend.

5. UMass Boston's roster features seven new players, including five true freshman. Juniors Gregory Young (Boston, Mass.) and Steven McGuire (Rancho Cucamonga, Calif.) each played at a junior college for two years, before transferring to UMass Boston.
