Bobby Barrett is entering his fourth year at UMass Boston and will serve as assistant coach in 2016. Barrett came to UMass Boston from Suffolk University where he coached the catchers and hitters for two seasons. At UMass Boston, Barrett will be responsible for working with the team's catchers and hitters, in addition to calling pitches during games.
Before coaching, Barrett was a four-year standout as a catcher for Suffolk. While with the Rams, Barrett was a D3Baseball.com All-America selection as a junior. That season he set the single season RBI record with 69 at Suffolk. Barrett was also a two-time New England All-Region selection by the New England Intercollegiate Baseball Association (NEIBA), and was a three-time All-Conference selection by the Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC). During his senior year Barrett was awarded Suffolk's Charles Law Student-Athlete Award, which recognizes a student-athlete for excellence in academics and athletics. Barrett would end his college career as a .385 hitter.
Barrett earned his masters of education in administration of higher education at Suffolk University in December 2011.
