BOSTON, Mass. – For the first time in school history, UMass Boston will be hosting an NCAA Tournament event. Due to heavy rain on Cape Cod Wednesday night into Thursday morning, Monan Park will be the host site for a pair of NCAA Regional First Round Games on Thursday.
The top-seeded Beacons will host #8 Penn State Berks on Thursday at 7 p.m. in game number two of the day at Monan. Fourth-seeded Western New England University will take on #5 Ramapo College at 3:30 p.m. in what was originally scheduled to be the first game of the Harwich Regional.
In the other two scheduled games for Day 1, #3 Keystone College and #6 Mitchell College (4:30 p.m.) and #2 SUNY Oswego and #7 Suffolk University (8:00 p.m.) will both be playing at Clark University.
The Beacons will face a familiar foe in Penn-State Berks in the first round of the regional tournament. Last season, the two teams met in the first round of the 2017 tournament with the Beacons earning an 8-7 10 inning win over the Nittany Lions. UMB would go a perfect 4-0 in the 2017 tournament and earn the program's second trip to the College World Series.
Tickets for Thursday and any of the games being played in Harwich will be 5 dollars for everyone except children under 12 who get in free.
