PAWTUCKET, R.I. – After a 5-1 week, which included leading the Beacons to the first-ever number one national ranking, senior second baseman Dave Murphy (Plymouth, Mass.), has been named the Little East Conference Player of the Week.
In six games, Murphy hit .478 after recording 11 hits, one double, and three home runs. He also had eight runs scored and eight RBI in 23 at-bats. His .913 slugging percentage led the Beacons, while his .500 on-base percentage was second best. The senior also led the way defensively for UMB as he recorded 15 putouts and 22 assists.
In the Beacons 9-2 win over RIT Murphy finished 2-for-3 with four RBI and three runs scored, and had a pair of home runs. He then added his third home run of the Florida spring trip in the team's only loss of 2018. To date, Murphy has recorded at-least one hit in every game but one for the Beacons, and has 14 hits, 12 RBI, 11 runs scored, and six extra base hits.
