BOSTON, Mass. – Left hander Patrick Austin (Torrington, Conn.) has been named this week's Future Collegiate Baseball League (FCBL) Pitcher of the Week after going 11 complete innings for the Torrington Titans. The announcement was made Monday evening, and marks the first FCBL weekly honor for the starter.
Last week Austin recorded a pair of wins and allowed just one earned run in his 11 innings of work. In his first victory, the Connecticut native went five complete innings and struckout five while only walking two batters against the Nashua Silver Knights. He would allow just one hit and surrendered one run, unearned, to notch the win. His second start was just as impressive as he shut down the Seacoast Mavericks. He recorded five K's and allowed only two walks, two hits and one earned run. On the year, Austin carries an overall record of 3-3 and has a WHIP of 1.22.
Earning Player of the Week honors was Ryan Coppinger of the Seacoast Mavericks and Canisius College (DI).
