NORTH DARTMOUTH, Mass. – The Little East Conference office has named freshman outfielder Nick Brothers (Fort Myers, Fla.) this week's conference Rookie of the Week for baseball for helping to lead UMass Boston to a 3-0 week, including a sweep over conference rival UMass Dartmouth on Saturday.
Last week, Brothers recorded a team-best .455 average as he recorded five hits in 11 at-bats to lead the Beacons to wins over Worcester State University and the Corsairs.
In Saturday's sweep of UMass Dartmouth, the freshman recorded three hits, including a double, in the 8-7 game one victory. In the nightcap he cranked a pair of singles to help UMass Boston earn a 6-5 come-from-behind victory. The Beacons were the lone team to record a sweep in the first Saturday of conference play. He also accounted for one of the Beacons runs in both contests as well.
On the year, Brothers is hitting a team-leading .481 and has 13 hits in 27 at-bats. He has crushed two doubles and has a slugging percentage of .556. He also leads the Beacons with a .548 on-base percentage and is 3-for-3 in stolen bases.
