TUCSON, Arizona – The 2013 Collegiate Baseball Newspaper has named junior Jamill Moquette (Boston, Mass.) and senior Matt Consiglio (Southbury, Conn.) to their Top NCAA Division III Players to Watch for list in 2013. The selection to the national watch-list marked the first for both players.
Moquette who was listed as one of the top outfielders on the preseason watch list is looking to build off of his All-Region season from a year ago. In his first season with the Beacons, the 6'3" Boston native led the Beacons with a .377 average, 55 hits, 36 runs scored, 13 doubles, four triples, four home runs and 88 total bases. He also finished second on the team in runs batted in with 32. On the base paths, Moquette recorded an impressive .603 on-base percentage and combined for a team-best 28 stolen bases. Defensively, Moquette tallied 44 putouts and 113 assists as one of the Beacons go-to infielders, playing both short stop and third base. At the end of the season, Moquette was named a New England Intercollegiate Baseball Association (NEIBA) Third Team All-Region honoree.
For Consiglio, he will be making the switch back to third base after spending all last season at first. The 2012 All-Little East Conference selection at first base, Consiglio started in all 41 games for the Beacons and finished second on the team with a .364 average. In 132 at-bats, the Southbury, Connecticut native combined 48 hits, 25 runs scored and team-best 35 runs batted in. His on-base percentage of .477 ranked second team, while is 29 walks led the all Beacons hitters. While wearing the first baseman's glove, Consiglio combined for 249 putouts and 49 assists and had a .952 fielding percentage.
The Beacons, who made their eight consecutive trip to the Little East Conference tournament in 2012, while begin their 2013 season on March 14 in Florida.
