Clark Center Gym to Begin Major Renovation
Back on March 19 the Clark Athletic Center Gymnasium closed it's doors to begin a major renovation which came to an end in November prior to the start of the 2012-13 basketball seasons. This multi-million dollar renovation included the replacement of the gym floor with a new maple hardwood surface, upgrading bleachers, and improving lighting and entryways. The new gym will provide UMass Boston students, faculty, staff, and visitors with a modernized 3,000-person facility for athletic and other events.
During the 2011-12 season, teams played and practiced on a leased, temporary floor, which was removed at the beginning of school break. The new gym floor adheres to all current athletic performance standards, providing the needed shock absorption athletes require.
