Cross-Country Goes the Distance at ECAC New England Championship Meet
WILLIAMSTOWN, Mass. – Led by Xhulio Uruci's (Newton, Mass.) 71st place finish the cross-country finished in 29th place at the 2011 ECAC New England Championship meet, hosted by Williams College at Mt. Greylock High School. The Beacons recorded a combined 808 points and averaged a time of 30:20.13 Saturday afternoon.
Running away with the team championship was Williams College, who saw all six of their runners finish in the top-22. Antoine Gisore brought home the individual title to New England College with his amazing time of 26:10.22 on the 8K course.
Uruci closed out Saturday's meet, which featured over 600 runners, with a final time of 28:29.26. Behind him in 100th place was Jake Kerin (Quincy, Mass.), who crossed the finish line with a time of 28:59.94.
Grant Shackelford (Manteca, Calif.) was the next Beacon to cross the finish line. With a time of 30:36.92, Shackelford finished in 188th place. Hamza Abdul was the fourth runner from UMass to place at Saturday's meet with his time of 31:05.61 (211th). Andrew Preda was the final runner to compete for the Beacons at ECAC's. He ended the day with a time of 32:28.88 to earn 251st place.
