DARTMOUTH, Mass. – In their second meet of the 2011 season, the University of Massachusetts Boston cross-country team had a solid showing against some extremely tough competition at the University of Massachusetts Dartmouth Cross-Country Invitational Saturday afternoon.
Leading the way for the Beacons was Xhulio Uruci (Newton, MA) who took 80th place with his time of 27:01.69. Winning the individual title was Bentley College's Rob Dextradeur with a final time of 24:35.00. The team championship went to MIT who recorded a combined time of 2:05.12.67 and 31 total points.
Next to cross the finish line for UMass was John Kerin (Quincy, MA) who recorded a time of 27:28.57 to take 101st place. Tad Delaney (Halifax, MA) ended the meet in 163rd place with his time of 28:49.40. Grant Shackelford (Manteca, CA) closed out Saturday's meet for the Beacons in 180th place and his time of 29:28.83.
Cross-country returns to action next Saturday when they take part in the 44th Annual Codfish Bowl. Start time is scheduled for 10 a.m. at Franklin Park in Boston.
