Women's Basketball & Softball Coaches #Chillin4Charity
BOSTON, Mass. – The newest trend in college athletics continues to grow throughout the nation and has reached the UMass Boston campus as the coaching staffs from women’s basketball and softball took part in #Chillin4Charity. Head women’s basketball coach Courtney Mattingly and head softball coach Natalia Ardagna along with her two assistants Josh Bartley and Kat Rosenthal all participated in this fundraiser to raise money for the Kay Yow Foundation.
The rules for #Chillin4Charity are very simple, as a coach has to call out a fellow coach before they receive a very cold ice shower. That person than has 48 hours to respond to the challenge by taking a cold shower of their own. If the challenge is not met head coaches have to make a donation of $250 to the Kay Yow Foundation, assistant coaches have to donate $100. If the coach answers the call, the challenging head coach owes $50 and the assistants owe $25.
Coach Mattingly was called out by the University of Southern Maine women’s basketball coach Fifield. She then called out Ed Leyden at Suffolk University, Kate Mullen at Wesleyan University (Conn.), and Sarah Cartmill at Bard College.
Coach Ardagna was issued the challenge by Jen Starek, head softball coach at the University of New Haven (Conn.). She has issued the challenge to Jessica Johnson at Brandeis University. Assistant coach Josh Bartley called out Tracey Gastineau of William Woods University, while assistant coach Kat Rosenthal issued the challenge to Brian Claypool of the College of Holy Cross.
