WESTON, Mass. – For the second straight weekend, graduate student
Jimmy Cannon won the 5,000 Meter Run, this time at Regis College for UMass Boston Men's Track and Field, finishing with a time of 15:21.51 which was a new personal best this season. His teammate and brother, freshman
Rob Cannon took second in the event with a time of 16:16.74.
Sophomore
Zeph Alvarado also competed in the same event as the Cannon brothers, notching a season-best time of 17:49.61 and placing fourth overall.

HOW IT HAPPENED
Aside from that event, freshman Melvin Wilshire had another day to remember for the Beacons, recording points in his pair of events which consisted of the Men's 100 Meter Run and Men's 200 Meter Run. Wiltshire placed sixth in the 100 Meter with a time of 11.79 seconds, just shy of his personal best which happened to also come at Regis College earlier this month.
In the 200 Meter Run, the freshman took second place in a time of 23.19 seconds, breaking his record of 23.76 seconds which came at Regis College.
Freshmen
Frank Boua and Omosigho Asuen went back-to-back in the Men's Long Jump as Boua leaped a personal best 19 feet, 6.75 inches for second place while Asuen was in third with a new record as well with a distance of 17 feet, 8.25 inches.
Freshman Olutemi Alofe and sophomore Arthur Grant tallied points for UMass Boston as well as broke their personal bests in the Men's Shot Put as Alofe threw for 34 feet, 8.25 inches while Grant's distance was 34 feet, 0.75 inches as the two Beacons finished sixth and seventh respectively.
