Paul Curran becomes the first wrestler inducted into the UMass
Boston Hall of Fame. The Hyde Park native was a four-year
letterwinner for the Beacons, wrestling at weight classes ranging
from 158, 177 and 190 pounds. He was named All-New England as a
sophomore and a senior and placed fifth at the New England College
Conference Wrestling Association Championships in his final season.
The 1990 graduate of UMass Boston was a co-captain for the Beacons
during his junior campaign and was selected captain as a senior,
while compiling a 28-26-6 record over four years. Following his
junior campaign, he became just the second UMass Boston wrestler to
be named an Academic All-American.
