UMass Boston's 2016-17 Year By The Numbers

BOSTON, Mass.—With the 2016-17 academic year wrapped up, we took a look at the some top performers from this year. UMass Boston had 16 student-athletes finish in the top-15 in an NCAA Division III statistical category and seven teams factor into the top-15. 

TOP PERFORMERS 

  • Freshman Wadeline Jonathas (Gonaives, Haiti) of Outdoor Track & Field won three national titles and earned four All-American honors. The freshman not only won the NCAA Division III Outdoor Track & Field Titles in the 200M and 400M but also ran the fastest times in Division III history (23.57 and 52.81). 
  • Lacrosse junior Clay Arnold (Syracuse, N.Y.) finished first in the country with his 61.8% shot percentage. Shot percentage measured the frequency of a player scoring on their attempted shots. 
  • Men's Hockey ended the year second in the country in power-play rate at 28.3 percent. 
  • Men's Soccer and Baseball combined for 14 team performances in the top-15 and 10 instances where the teams finished in the top-10.
