PAWTUCKET, R.I. – After a record-setting weekend, the track and field team earned a combined four conference weekly honors Monday afternoon.
All-American Wadeline Jonathas (Gonaives, Haiti) was named the Track and Rookie Track Athlete of the Week, while the men's and women's 4x100-meter relay and the women's 4x400-meter relay teams were named the Relay Teams of the Week.
For Jonathas, she set a new program record with six gold medals, on top of also establishing two meet and program records as well. In the 100-meter dash she moved into 4th in the country with a time of 11.77 seconds. She now owns the fastest time in the 200-meter dash after tripping the sensor with a time of 23.79 seconds. To close out the meet she once again dominated the 400-meter dash, with an impressive time of 56.47 seconds.
On Saturday, the men's 4x100-meter relay team of Garth Miriyoga (Johannesburg, South Africa,) Dom Nda (Pittsfield, Mass.), Bless Amedoadzi (Boston, Mass.), and Stefan Powell (Hyde Park, Mass.) set a new meet and program record with a combined time of 41.31 seconds, which moved them into seventh place in Division III.
For the women's 4x100-meter relay they climbed into the top-5 in the country thanks to their final time of 47.06 seconds. The team of Jonathas, Taylor Driggers (Lisbon, Conn.), Lexy Bean (Danvers, Mass.) and Olivia Burnes (Paxton, Mass.) also dominated the 4x400 as they took gold with a time of 3:59.94.
