PAWTUCKET, R.I. – After the men's and women's teams posted third place finishes at the Tufts University Sunshine Classic, the Beacons earned a combined four weekly honors.
Freshman Wadeline Jonathas (Gonaives, Haiti) collected three of the four weekly honors as she was named the Rookie Track and Field Athlete of the Week, as well as also earning the Track Athlete of the Week honor. At Saturday's meet, Jonathas posted three first place finishes. She recorded the top times in the 200- and 400-meter dashes with times of 25.09 and 55.05 seconds. Her time in the 400 currently has her ranked second in the country. In the long jump, Jonathas posted a final distance of 17-08.75 feet to win the event.
The men's 4x100-meter relay team of Bless Amedoadzi, Garth Miriyoga, Dom Nda, and Kelly Desane set the program record on Saturday. With a combined time of 42.09 seconds, the four sprinters were the lone record breakers in Saturday's meet for the Beacons.
